Want to learn how to sew but don't know where to start? Do you have a sewing machine, but are just too busy or intimidated to open the box? Used to sew once upon a time, but now you've forgotten everything?
Bring your machine* and manual into the studio for a 2-hour beginner sewing lesson (or refresher!) with Rae and learn what all those knobs and buttons do, how to thread the machine properly and try out some of your machine's stitch options.
Taught by Rae Hoekstra at her studio in downtown Ann Arbor, this private lesson will walk you through the basics of how your machine works - threading, adjusting tension, and other technical questions; you may even leave with a small project if time allows!
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:
- The parts of your sewing machine and what they do
- How to sew basic seam and curved seam
- How to finish a seam or edge so it won't fray
- How to thread your machine
- How to adjust your machine tension
- How to wind your bobbin
- Basic troubleshooting
LOCATION: Made by Rae studio, downtown Ann Arbor (1 block away from UoM central campus)
COST: $95 for 2 hours for 1 person, add $40 for each additional person
Great for ages 12 and up!
This lesson is 2 hours long - once you purchase this lesson, Rae will email you her calendar so you can find a time that works. Daytime hours are easiest to schedule, but Rae often has weeknight and weekend availability as well.
