WORKSHOP: Sew Citrine Cardigan

Sew your own cosy cardigan using the Citrine Sewing Pattern. Learn how to sew curved knit seams, cuffs & ribbing, knit buttonholes (optional), and - if time permits - tips for hacking the pattern in this workshop at Rae's studio in downtown Ann Arbor.

Arrive with your pieces pre-cut (cut your pieces at home) or add the optional 2-hour cutting class at the studio the evening before to cut out and prep your pieces with Rae. 

This is a 3* hour in-person workshop taught by Rae Hoekstra
(*5 hours if you add the cutting class)

(add Cutting Class on Wednesday 2/21/24, 7-9 PM +$45)

You will need: Citrine Sewing Pattern and fabric (precut your fabric pieces out prior to arrival):

  • For main garment: Light to medium weight knit fabrics such as stretch terry, sweater knit, jersey, or rib knit with at least 30% stretch. 
  • For bindings (neckband, waistband, cuffs): Rib knit or sweatshirt ribbing with at least 70% stretch, if not using main fabric. (yardage chart)
  • four buttons - 5/8” - ⅞” [15-22 mm] (optional, view b)

  • 1⁄4 yd medium weight fusible interfacing (optional, view b)

SKILL LEVEL:
Confident beginner or Intermediate: you have some experience with sewing simple knit projects such as a tee shirt or leggings, are comfortable operating your sewing machine and/or serger without assistance, and have sewn a number of projects prior (even if this is your first garment). This is not a learn-to-sew class for first time sewists.

TOOL LIST (YOU BRING)

  • Sewing machine with straight stitches & zigzag stitches (or contact Rae to rent a studio machine). Serger optional
  • Pins or quilter's clips
  • Fabric shears, smaller scissors or snips for trimming/clipping
  • Seam ripper
  • Chalk or water soluble fabric marker
  • clear quilter's ruler

Rae provides irons and ironing boards and table space for each student. 

Number of participants is 4-6, age 16+ are welcome to participate. 

CANCELLATION POLICY:

Classes are taught be me - Rae Hoekstra - at my studio in downtown Ann Arbor. Details for accessing the building as well as final confirmation that the class will run will be emailed to you at least 48 hours before class begins. Your class fee will be fully refunded if we do not have enough students to run the class, or you may have the option to join the other session if that will run.

While we do understand that last minute schedule changes and emergencies do occur, your class fee reserves your spot and if we cannot fill your spot you will receive a 50% refund for cancellations at least 48 hours before the class session begins, with no refunds for cancellations less than 48 hours prior to class. If you are sick, please contact Rae ASAP and we will work something out. Thanks for your understanding!
